Before choosing a backup plan you need to know where each kind of data lives.
Articles, categories and menu structure are database-only. Restoring template files does not bring content back.
Joomla's detailed user group and access level configuration is stored in the database.
Component, module and plugin settings live in the database; reinstalling does not restore them.

The module needs PHP 7.1 or newer (8.1+ recommended) — virtually every Joomla installation qualifies. On the database side MySQL and MariaDB are supported: Joomla runs on MySQL/MariaDB by default. Joomla installations running on PostgreSQL are not supported.
The module is installed as an independent folder in your web root. It does not touch Joomla core files and is not installed as a theme, plugin or extension — so Joomla updates never break your backups.
